Good Mistakes

Sometimes a mistake can be just what is needed to make something extraordinary. I took a picture of a seashell collection and was planning to use the flash off-camera. I forgot to turn on the slave switch, so I ended up getting the shot just with the available room light. I had just enough movement as I tried to hold the camera still to produce a kind of dreamy image–just what you might imagine as you think about the beach.

It reminds me of another of my shots that I like which is in the same vein. This one I gave a little of that dreamy effect by reducing the clarity setting in Adobe Lightroom. Both of these may be found in the Beach & Nautical section of my Life Stills by Barry Wills website. I can picture these on the walls of someone’s vacation beach home–maybe yours…
